This tropical curiosity is a medium-sized tree from west Africa.
It is called “sausage tree” because of its large, up to 2-foot long sausage-shaped woody fruits that dangle on long stems below the leafy branches.
The large, leathery burgundy coloured flowers open in the evening and in its native habitat are visited by bats.
Must be protected from frost. If you’re looking for something really different, here you go.
The trees 4 sale are up to 1.5 metres tall. Though very hard to germinate, once germinated grow quite fast.$168 each..
